Seize the Day

I looked after an old lady and she always used to say ‘Three things never come back… The spoken word, the sped arrow, and the neglected opportunity’ I look back on my life, yes I have regrets Of the things I’ve done, or I haven’t done The things I’ve said or I haven’t said We must remember, life is all too short None of us know what is around the corner So seize the moment and do it now Grab every opportunity you can Tell people around you that you love them For tomorrow may never come… Carpe Diem – seize the day 10~25~14 Submitted to Premiere contest #10 sponsored by Skat

Excellent advice, Jan: Congrats on your placement. I had one on my refrigerator for a long time that advised, " If you would keep your lips from slips, three things observe with care. Of what you speak to whom you speak and how and when and where." Especially in a small town..LOL SuZ

Hi Jan , wise words indeed and well presented for your win . Your elderly lady was indeed a wise person . I know you do have a sense of humour and a witty pen , so please delete my (don't mention sport) Limerick as I just could not resist the temptation to go against the rules here. Declare me disqualified !. Sean. PS another wise phrase :" It's always better to regret not doing something that to regret going it" .

I've not read any of the limericks yet - I look forward to seeing what you wrote about - if it not about a specific sport and is funny it will place - I love your closing phrase - lol:-) hugs Jan xx

The old lady I looked after had dementia and would tell me the same stories every day but she had some very wise words and I always try and remember her wisdom - I wrote another poem about her called 'the sweet scent of lavender' and whenever I smell the scent I think of happy times when she was alive:-) Hugs Jan xx
