Seems Like Yesterday

Was it only yesterday we met
or have the days between disappeared
greedily consumed without regret
and do we both grow old, as we feared?
Surely it was only yesterday;
those years cannot have so swiftly passed;
yet we celebrate a new birthday
so, so very quickly since the last.
I behold there is a space between
that offering of the first bouquet
to what presently our love does mean;
but it seems like only yesterday.
