Seeking Shelter from Torrential Rain

                                            In valleys deep where wanton whispers weep
                                                 A chill fills the air, scary silence sweeps,
                                           The moon hangs high, shedding a greyish light,
                                                 It offers the world a pale frightful sight.

                                                Dead tired after a whole hectic day`s roam,
                                               To shelter from rain on the way back home
                                                      I plied to a forsaken house for rest
                                                  As the rain appeared to pour at its best.

                                                  The creaking doors offered no barrier,
                                                    I thought inside it won`t be scarrier,
                                         Beneath the sullied floor, the old boards creaked,
                                                A mournful sound, a fearful noise unique.

                                            The air was thick with woeful whispered dread,
                                               As night unfolded its dark shrouded thread
                                            My eyes roamed in the dark, gleaming like coal,
                                                  Waiting, watching around me as a whole.

                                            The rain poured and poured anew without cease
                                                   Coupled with a woeful whispering breeze;
                                             Awhile my watch marked close to midnight hours,
                                                 Now twelve chimes tolled from a distant tower.

                                           Footsteps echoed on floors where none should tread,
                                                 Darkest thoughts arose in my mind with dread,
                                                         Soon I eyed a white walking skeleton,
                                                   With awful fright I thought my life was done.

                                                          I fell unconscious in pitch of the night,
                                                         With all objects fading away from sight;
                                                     With resumption of breath at break of dawn,
                                                             I was girdled by kindred of my own.

                                                     Notwithstanding my breath, my bones were cold
                                                                My spirit at lowest ebb, and my soul,
                                                        Once warm, shuddered at the appalling plight
                                                                Subjected in the darkness of the night.

                                                         This was the fate one dark night I sustained
                                                            While seeking shelter from torrential rain,
                                                              A lesson learnt, life-long to be retained
	                                                        To escape uninvited stress and strains.
