Seeking Black

I found myself wanting to be angry and vile,
seeking black, looking hard for him
in all the dark places, lingering a while.
Black has his own ways, unknown to mortals-
slinking out and in mysterious portals.
time be traveling, perching on a gloomy rim.

He is illusive and not easy to find.
Hidden from me in recesses I cannot follow
Black outshone me, reading my unsophisticated mind.
He was the victor, reaping the spoils of war.
Knowing my truth he understood I could soar.
His elusiveness made me wither and wallow.

Very deep, dark, and well-done, Caren. Congratulations on your First Place win in the contest. Hugs, Sandra

Thank you Sandra. This poem came from a place I do not often venture; I had to pull it out with a long rope.

You needed a flashlight to spot him. Just kidding; well done dark poem; good luck with the contest; this was terrific.

Thank you M.L. I really have no idea what I was aiming for. This was a feeling poem where the poem grabbed the pen and pushed me aside in a rough way.

To me your 'black' is a vagueness of specific intensity which makes no sense at all logically, but emotionally that's where I went. This is compelling and dramatic, both of which should fair well with our LuLoo. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay. My muse took over, taking me to an emotional place, and insisting on having her own way. I just allowed myself to be easily led. Which does not always happen.

nicely done CK, and skillfully within fairly strict confines of the contest Anthony

Thank you for noting this Anthony. I was scared when I tried to post it and could not find it. Thank goodness I had printed it because being a rule follower does not come easy to me. I have to really TRY on these kinds of contests.I had to re-type the entire poem as the initial poem has hidden in the recesses of my computer or - more likely, I did have on my glasses and accidentally deleted it.

Thank you Silent One. I typed it up yesterday, could not find it anywhere, wondered if I accidentally printed it which I did, and re-typed it. The mysteriousness of the poem hid it from me in my computer. I searched everywhere, even under daily list it was suspiciously missing. A poem with a mind of his own.

We sometimes feel that our mood is black and that it follows us which it does, until we all see how lucky we are if we visit a hospital at Christmas. Sad but lovely poem. Know this poem is for the contest, good luck! Love and poetry hugs Caren for 2019 to you and your family. Jennifer

Thank you Jennifer; I truly do try to enter all the contests as it is good experience for me to try new things. Otherwise I feel like I am in a little stagnant ditch with the beginning of malaria. Love to you and your family and I hope you all have the best 2019.
