Second Yard
5 steps down to the second yard
six peach trees two plum in the back
two ways to the field
one to the woods
dark root celler and a stone wall where
snakes
could sun when they were thirsty.
Current bushes
rubarb plants and once
asparagus
preying mantis and always grasshoppers
and dogs
the hot wheat smell of grasses drying
the fairy trees of ice in winter
neighborhood path to sledding
cool trees to read in
sanctuary
