Notes About The Poem

Second Chances

Second Chances

We all say things,
we all do things,
we wish that we could,
take back or do over.
That seldom happens.

The only price paid for sin,
The blood of God.
The only possibility,
we all have,
Him.

People hurt us and we strike out.
They can be physical damages
or much worse,
Tried and true deadly words,
that reach in and take you apart,
from the small of your hidden life,
to the big part of all that is seen.
None of it is safe.

Empathy is in short supply,
as everyone moved the bar,
higher than anyone can ever reach.
But it was an agreed upon
point when it happened,
Yet, seems less obtainable,
than ever.

God help me forgive others,
as I am small,
you are tall.
