The seasons pay no mind to war As summer sun fades into fall, And winter wind raps on the door. Falling leaves create a caul For sleeping seed beneath the floor, Where fears of men seem very small.

Congratulations on your win Chetta in Line's contest. Your six lines are beautifully written and say so much. I read it as a juxtaposing of life and beauty of the four seasons with the inevitabllity of death brought on by ugly war.Your opening line is brilliant. The use of 'caul' was sublime - I learnt a new word today. ;) Cheers - Gary

Chetta, to me this is beautifully written. To me, it seems there is something deeper and more lasting than man and his wars.
