Seasonal Depression

I’ve discovered I’m sporting a droll expression Seems the return of my seasonal depression I am so drowsy and sleepy all the time I wouldn’t stoop over to pick up a dime. My motivation has taken flight until spring Sitting down to write I can’t think of a thing That I think is eminently worthy of sharing A feature of S.A.D.D. is simply not caring.

And googling S.A.D.D., I came up with Students Against Destructive Decisions! Can't make that up... I did see Season Affective Disorder farther down the menu on my screen. Here's to a jolt of Indian Summer! (We have it now in Chicago).

I think we are due warmer weather through Wednesday. Mine is complicated right now with seasonal allergies. After the leaves are dealt with, I'm sure I'll feel better.

Thank you so much, Mike. It's something I have battled this time of the year for as long as I can remember. I appreciate your concern and your positive thoughts. Happy Sunday, my friend.

SADD is real; so many have it. It is 85 degrees here today, so Joe will not have it yet. Some people do well on anti-depressants. Others not so well. Thinking of you, sending prayers.

Thank you so much, Caren. I've tried anti-depressants, but they have too many side effects for me. I have found the grow lights help a lot. I replaced my bulbs yesterday.

It’s a great time to adopt a Buddhist cum Tantric teaching, nonchalantly observing waves of depression encircle mind-body (not our soul, which is unbound), viewing this phenomena of foreign origin with astonishment ~ witness consciousness. It has enormous spiritual benefits as a mindfulness practice and also releases the heart contraction

I'm glad to see you got the grow lights, I heard they help. When we lived where there was no sunshine all winter I wanted to make a room off the house filled with framed garden paintings that I envisioned would appear to be windows looking out into a spring garden. I felt desperately depressed, it was terrible. Wishing you well Milton, I hope you don't have to wait until spring to feel better. Have you ever tried taking vitamin D? I heard that may help.

Thanks, BJ. I do take a Vitamin D tablet every day. I'm sure the grow lights will help. They did last year. I can't imagine living in a place where there is no sunshine at all all winter. I'd probably just give it up! (chuckling)

I feel very sorry for how you are feeling at the moment; Milt, depression and aching limbs, etc., are not uplifting. It is hard to accept when you have always been active. Perhaps your body is telling you to 'chill out for a while and rest. Look after yourself, Milt. I sincerely hope you feel better soon. Old Duck.

Thank you so much, Shirley. I go through this every year from about mid-October to mid-April. I do everything I can to fight it. I installed "grow lights" this afternoon. They help a lot.

We all have our contributing factors in how we sometimes feel Milton. I am just glad I am alive and coping I have shared before some people have it much worse than we do. Thanks for sharing and I hope you get back to feeling better my friend...

We are still having a remarkable fall day here - in the short sleeves, working in the woods - Hope you get to perking up!

Sounds like you are enjoying yourselves, Jeff. I won't come out of the S.A.D.D. until mid-April. And folks wonder why I do not like this time of the year. In addition to the S.A.D.D., I have the usual fall allergies!
