Under every rock, within each alley
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
Standing on the corner, under a shade tree
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
Within each mirror, I often try to see
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
Am I like so many others, as if a copy?
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
We’re so much alike, but so very different
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
Identity please, that’s all that I meant
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
Comes the day, when I will know, but now
I’m looking real hard, I’m looking for me
Introspection and reflection had helped
I’ve now stopped looking, it is I that I see
Too many times we try too hard to figure out who we are. We’re just like everyone
else, in fact, but for our individual identity, we must relax and calmly just look into
ourselves. We must figure out our interests, pleasures and dislikes for they
contribute to the “me”, but who we really are is everything that we stand for;
everything else is just a base to place ourselves on.
