Scent of a Promise

You said to be strong
That together we belong
You promised it won’t be long
Until the love is won,
Hope you are not wrong

Scented candles’ slow burn
Releases an aromatic churn
Our hearts beat as swan
Sparkling flavours in wine

Intoxicated on this drunken air
The mesmerising smell you wear
Perfume of never ending laughter
Unforgettable smile of forever after

We cremated our doubts
In a fire of red rose pedals
Holding onto what we have
When our hearts nosedive

You said to be strong
That together we belong
You promised it won’t be long
Until the love is won,
Hope you are not wrong

Scented love’s yearn
For a nose this way to turn
For dried up dreams to drink
Quench their thirst too weak

Everything’s moving too fast
There’s no time for regrets,
And our shaken hearts combine
Into love’s unmistakable tune

We buried our past
When love seemed out of sight
The sunlight was never so bright
In your unmasked, scented bouquet

For this love was made strong
Together, forever we belong
The promise came true
True love for me and you
Hope inspired this song
