Scarlet Skies

Won’t you mend my wounds tonight?
Why don’t you share my wings of flight?
I’m flying above scarlet skies
Come and rescue me from these lies…
Inside, inside, inside my soul

Don’t you understand where I belong?
I’m sorry if I did you so much harm
Be my starlit sky to bleed out scarlet skies in this lonesome song
I’m trying my hardest to keep you warm

You and I paint scarlet skies
Wrap around me tourniquets of lullabies
You and I faint due to the lies
I see them with these crimson eyes
Mend my scarlet scars tonight
I’m bending and breaking with all my might
Send me brief relief from on high
You left me feeling lowly and dry

You betrayed me with so little time sometimes
You preyed upon me; now, I’m a victim to your lies
You manipulated me, deceiving me that you were an empath
You jaded me and hated me; now, I’m relieving this inner wrath
Inside, inside, inside my soul of resentfulness on your behalf…

Don’t you understand where I belong?
I’m sorry if I did you so much harm
Be my starlit sky to bleed out scarlet skies in this lonesome song
I’m trying my hardest to keep you warm

You and I paint scarlet skies
Wrap around me tourniquets of lullabies
You and I faint due to the lies
I see them with these crimson eyes
Mend my scarlet scars tonight
I’m bending and breaking with all my might
Send me brief relief from on high
You left me feeling lowly and dry

Inside, inside, inside my soul,
There’s a pathway to unfold…
Inside, inside, inside endlessness as a whole
I’ll try to be pleasant and bold

Inside, inside, inside
Inside, inside, I’ve died
Inside, inside, my broken pride
Inside, inside, this turbulent tide
Inside, inside, no longer by your side
Inside, inside, I’m still alive
Inside, inside, I’ll surely survive

If you’d just let me soar
In these scarlet skies…
Maybe together, forevermore?
Look me in the eyes and tell me no lies
