Scared

Scared So you think YOU are scared You just cant cope, being broke, no hope So you buckle, jump to her word Ditch what you’ve heard All those thoughts that you had When you were feeling so sad Just forgotten, down trodden You’re under the thumb man Stand up and give a damn I can tell you about being scared Wanting to shout out loud but not even dared Being fifteen and left all alone Staying a week, then going back ‘home’ Doing my GCSE’s and my brain is racked My family life has stumbled and cracked Mum gets arrested for wielding a knife Dad cannot hide from his trouble and strife Ben lets it all out by punching a wall What kind of life is this? Can’t they see it, the fools Friends in higher education But my family stole my concentration Mum and dad are the people you can always trust But broken promises turn to dust We all make mistakes and from those we must learn But again and again, there is no last turn So much anger has built up inside That, that happy go lucky girl long ago just died So next time you’re scared with no strength left to climb Don’t give up dad, things can only get better with time

Brilliantly written Gemma and it feels so real. There's so much genuine pain here and you've put it into words perfectly.
