Scam Alert This letter below came in my in box (my Gmail as I answered the soup mail) at poetry soup, so I responded and said hi. I was sent a scam letter about Allah and tears and dying and sharing money with me. I blocked this on my email. This is a scam. I thought I would share her name and such so if you see her or this message again, you will know what it is about... BEWARE... Thank you. Ann Foster EMAIL FROM CREEPYSCAM Subject: hello From: mariyah nada Message: my name is mariyah am very happy to see your profile today here on poetrysoup.com i will like to talk with you on my email address ndmariyah@gmail.com (The letter I was sent is several pages long.)

Yeah, I sniffed her out immediately… One thing you can do is check to see if the person has posted any poems. Most of the time the scammers have posted zero poems, so you'll know right away that t's a request for money. Business as usual for these chumps. :) gw

creepy if I take her letter and make a poem? yeah creepy right... lol (exert from a discussion that all writers have disclaimers that nothing is like anything real in their lives... really...) :)

I've gotten several similar messages over time... they reek with the perfume of SCAM... First of all if they are SO interested in us, why have they never commented on any of our poems? You are WAY too kind, Ann - not too many people would reply.

I received a message from this account as well but checking I found no poems posted so I blocked the writer and deleted the message but I should have also warned others like you did here. Thank you for being you, Ann.

You are welcome. I do not like it as I have grown to trust the soup... that is why I responded... That floored me... I emailed the soup as well directly, and gmail and have blocked all accordingly. I just wanted to share so no one gets hurt. Have the very nicest day. Ann
