Save Our Sisters

A poem about infanticide of girls...

"Save Our Sisters!"

Many girls lost, many girls missed
Many girls lost, never to be Ms.
Strings of girls, strands of pearls,
Gone, gone, gone. Pretty, pretty, girls.
A mother's hug, a sister’s laugh, a daughter’s kiss
Lost, lost, lost. Missed, missed, missed.

Many girls lost, many girls missed
Many girls lost, never to be Ms.
Young girls grow up, become young ladies.
But for Indian girls, that’s a big maybe
Young girls grow up, become young ladies.
But for Chinese girls, that’s a big maybe,

Many girls lost, many girls missed
Many girls lost, never to be Ms.
Run, Run, Run, hide your daughters,
Run, Run, Run. Run from the slaughter.
Wake up world, we’ve lost too many sisters.
S.O.S. World, Save Our Souls, Save Our Sisters.

Comments: In some parts of the world, the three deadliest words are “It’s a girl”. Girls are killed for being girls. After watching this movie trailer http://www.itsagirlmovie.com/ , I wrote the poem above. FEEDBACK WELCOME.

Hello Noel, this poem is so very sad. Something should be done to save the girls. Have a nice day my friend.

Too funny as I'm watching Women's day just now on news. How abortions kill girls in many countries. Great poem :)

I read "Save our Sisters" aloud five times. I cannot see or hear an errant sound or stress in this wonderful poem. This was my first read of you, my man. I'm going to look at more of your stuff and listen to myself looking. Bill Keen

Thanks Bill, when I hear music, I feel like I wrote good things. If you like sound, read "Ode to a Writer", or "Fire Works". Good Feedback helps me write! Noel

Your poem brings awareness to many who could not even conceive of this happening. In America we rejoice in either gender being born. I myself have three daughters and only one son. Your poem should be POTD my friend and it is going into my Faves! Congratulations on your premium membership Noel. It is wonderful to have poets like you join this site! : ) Aloha, Connie

it is an old sad story. of course. being a women is not easy , being a man is not easy. in similar and different ways, but the expression of anger, justified or not, never ever excuses the act of physical or even psychological or verbal violence or intent. we are all in this life together. no excuses. great poem , feel free to feedback on mine, sincerely Daniel Schack on poetrysoup.com

Add to that all the baby girls (and boys) who were aborted, and it's another holocaust. Very touching poem Noel. Blessings, Susan

I am with you on this one. My state in insane, California, I mean. Planned Parenthood wants their phone number put on student ID cards? Oh, you mean, Dial a Butcher? God help us.Belgium had an openly Jew hating float yesterday.I have no doubts that another Holocaust is coming. I also fear for anyone Jewish these days. Hatred of Jews on the rise in Europe, too. Noel, this went straight to my FAV list. I think everyone should be aware. EVERYONE is not, but you are and I am and so are some. This poem could also be a wake up call for all of us to be aware as there are so many missing girls who never come home. We could all try harder to be aware and do whatever we can to stop them from being abducted in the first place.
