Santa's Big Act
'Twas the night before Christmas how could I miss
the jangle of keys from a Santa named Chris
He won over Benji two biscuits and vice
then recited the list, who's naughty who's nice
He munched on the cookies drank all the milk
then gossiped a little, with Sam the old elk
'Twas the night before Christmas what could I say
not a parent was stirring, so I feigned with delay
The presents were stacked up a little compact
as I waited all antsie, for Santa's big act
The baubles were humming a tune of fine creed
suppressing their giggles for Santa's big need
'Twas the night before Christmas and music was King
he left me a mic with a note said, "You sing ?.."
I clung to the silence like a mute oh so still
while Santa retired up the chimney at will
'Twas the night before Christmas and I was lip tight
as the snow fell so gently, all through the night
'Twas the night before Christmas and I stayed awake
picking out songs, .... for the fam's final wake.
