Santa Claws Is Coming To Town
Santa Claws Is Coming To Town
By Elton Camp
Every year when Santa makes his annual trip
The season and its traditions some need to skip
The significant financial drain that it does create
Have caused many the holiday season to berate
For it is financially that they will be floored
Due to buying gifts that they can ill afford
“Joe buys an expensive gift for me every year.
Unless I get him one, he’ll be offended I fear.”
The hapless victim figures how much to spend
And thus get through gift-giving season again
Giving gifts freely is what people should do
And certainly not because they are expected to
Greedy big business is largely the one to blame
For the monster that holiday season became
I know, to some, this poem won’t be a pleaser
And they will attack and even call me Ebenezer
But “Bah, humbug” is a pretty good thing to say
About what has become a crassly commercial day
