Sandy Sue Is the Expert

Sandy Sue is the expert after all
Our determined mother said smugly. 
She is the one who understands psychology
Better than any of you ever could.

We three have no knowledge of psychology
because we are still  five, six, and seven
in Mom’s mind, so we sit quietly, 
eagerly awaiting the expert’s arrival.

Sandy Sue is mom’s hairdresser, a proponent of self,
super confident, without impediment of college degree at all.
She whirls in to straighten us out, to psychoanalyze us.
Concerned in no way that we each have a doctorate in psychology.

I prefer the knowledge of those who simply are themselves.
