Sandcastle On the Beach

Sandcastle on the Shore *Poem based on Richard Harris's singing, "MacArthur Park."            ~~~~ Like a child, playing with wet sand, I tried to keep our sandcastle together with these very small,  dimpled, suntanned hands. But the ocean waves coming in, were infinitely far stronger than me! And our castle was being eaten by the monster sea. I can't forget our sunny days at that sentimental beach! When we thought creating such a thing was really out of our reach. Now, you are gone and I recall, you waving at me from the rear window of your family car. As you did, a large wave came! And our sandcastle and you,  are forever missing. My little girl heart, oh,how it still weeps, in this toasty, warm summer night... It took us so lomg to make it, and I know, that I will never be able rebuild our sandcastle again! Oh, no! July 30, 2019 4pm PST

JW...when I re read this poem, the sound of MacArthur Park is always in my head. I really don't know how I created this small tale. This is one of my own personal FAV's.Glad you enjoyed... Panagiota (=

You have your memory of what must have been an outstanding sandcastle. Many things last a short time but live on in our minds. Loved it!

Yes, Kim. These sandcastles can represent anything! I do remember what it reminds me of, and the song came around that year. It is a tragic, yet beautiful song. Harris' rendition is by far the best, love, Panagiota xoxo

Wonderful, Panagiota. Your poem is perfectly in sync with MacArthur Park, one of my favorite songs of that period, which I had completely forgotten. Thanks for reviving it, and thanks for a glorious narrative. Best wishes, gw

My dear Gersfon, That certainly is not a current song, but gads, so beautiful. Listen to it on You Tube. It's not eligible for a current contest, so I decided to post it anyway. Thank you for your comment on the narrative.the original lyrics are so heart rendering,Merci, Panagiotz
