Sandcastle Dreams

We built our kingdom of sand and dreams A fortress of shells and seaweed streams We dug our moat with buckets and spades And prayed the tide would not invade Our walls were high our towers tall But storms came and watched them fall The sea devoured our sandy home Leaving us stranded feeling alone Gone are the days of carefree play Building castles on the beach all day For we have learned that nothing lasts Everything even dreams get washed away And so we stand and watch from afar As people build their castles near the shore We know they too soon will be gone And so we mourn for whats been done
