SAND PROMISES

SAND PROMISES

Some promises are set firm in stone
Foundations supporting them forever
Yet in a tide’s constant ebb and flow
Others get washed away in the sand
A pity, but often easy to understand
Well-meant, yet are unsecured below
Unable to survive inclement weather
And unworthy to ascend any throne

I think it is true that sand promises are "well-meant." It is sad to me that that is just what happens, the way it goes. Your last line reminds me that the Bible speaks against those sand promises, and we are warned to not make those. Congrats on your win in my contest.
