Sand Dollars

Felt you next to me as we walked on the sand
laughing. Floppy stylish hat covering your golden locks, green
eyes smiling …
I reached for your hand
We walked down the beach seeking elusive
Sand dollars…finding three
Remember that first day of the year? Small treasures,
You were joyful-- then despondent --then joyful…
I had to go
Can’t spend sand dollars

I liked the feel of this poem, Alex. Leaves one guessing about what happened to make it all go wrong. Well done!
