Sand

You slipped between my fingers Sifted through my hands Swept up just like gusts of wind Blow away the sand You tried to ride the currents Brave the crashing tides Fight the vicious undertow That dragged you down inside But the struggle made you tired Too fragile, limp and weak It finally pulled you under You'd sunken far too deep Your suffering is over You're now weightless, free from pain No more will you have to swim Those savage seas again But you'll always be beside me Not far from where I stand May your light shine like a beacon And dance upon the sand.
