Sanctum

There's a beauty in her eyes That I would claim my own There's a pain she tries to hide And she suffers it alone But in my arms, she's bare to me Through her soul, aware of me And I see her fighting there Alone and unaware "I see you." The innocence of hidden pain may as well be gone Better hide behind a window pane or silence the prayer gong So lay thee here beside me, but don't you lie as well My life's too far behind thee for those fibs to me to sell. And in my arms I see right through What you call shame, and that's the truth When will you surrender Alone without a care "I see you." And your heart will burst The tears spring from their prison You fear it is the worst To your soul I calmly listen Neither weak nor shameful are your tears, Your fears fade as your cheeks glisten Here in my arms is hope and home You'll never fear to be alone When you open your eyes See clearly through disguise You see me.
