The chantings....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Within the fog shrouded moments
Of tomorrows unknown day
You wait for something
Something strange....
To mute your path
With these ghostlike things
While as you walk
Along their daunting dreams
Of twisting smiles
And ludicrous scenes....
Caricatures faces
That they always seem
Calling unto your spirit
Enticingly....
As they try to draw you in
Into the corners
Of their darkened sin!
Worn upon the vestige
Of these hearts
That can no longer hide
Ghouls and goblins
Of another, kind....
Wrapped in this flesh
And pretty, unto the eyes
Their quest is your soul
Hidden, within the carnage
Of their forlorn disguise....
These barers, of the false chalices
Poisoned wine!
Sentinels of the sepulchres
That long for your life....
Howling at the moon
Amid the midnight moors
Transylvanias castles
Awakened, from their lores
These Jekylls and these Hydes
From the shadows, born....
The jackals of the harvest
.............Of.............
Hello John... It wold be impossible to take offense, by words written so beautifully ... perhaps it is I who should apologize for my Ill- considered choice of words... But perhaps as you say the write is meant to be a warning.. it had the right effect and needed other words to describe the feeling I received when reading it..... Thank you as always John
Hello John... and once again I extend my gratitude for all your comments... RE. your comment on "Surfing With White Whales" ... have to say John , no I am not a surfer and have never been surfing in my entire life... much to my own loss.. the poem is about the murder and extinction of Whales. I found Samhain to be very dark, somewhat different from the light in your other work John, almost creepy, but not in its description, rather in its implication ....
