Late Souper Daver Austin used to leave out food and cats made their home beneath his porch. Sweet man couldn't bear to see them get cold, so there were always a couple dozen or so indoors on winter nights. Thank you for reminding me of Daver's kindness in your beautiful haiku, Sandra. Best wishes in the contest. Hugs, Carolyn

Thank you for your visit, Carolyn. I did not know about Daver being so good to the feral cats. So sweet, indeed. My poem is based on inspiration from one of my daughters and her girls who do this every evening, mostly during the winter. Like clockwork, 4 to 5 cats appear, and for that short time, they are in heaven! And they can cuddle during the night on some of the blankets she leaves on the porch. We are all animal lovers! Hugs, Sandra
