Salt of The Earth
Salt of The Earth,
My thirst for knowledge,
Took me to the edge,
I wedge myself safely in place,
As I face the onslaught,
It's not like I thought,
Its nothing that could be bought,
Taught to endure,
I hold sure to the promise,
Keeping my heart pure,
I search for a cure,
A chance to change who you once were,
As I stir up the dirt,
I can't tell you how much it hurts,
As sweat spurts from every pore,
My body is sore,
Pulling up roots galore,
I almost can't stand no more,
Salt drips heavily on the Earths floor,
Seeping down into the core,
Add a billion more,
Take a minute to explore,
The salt in the store,
A part of what I work so hard for.
