Salad Days
Yesterday when my world was young
and days were wasted seeking fun
Smiles were cheap and our bikes our wheels
gorging candy and skipping meals
Time was solid as we chipped it away
innocence challenged as we leaped into the fray
Too young to be afraid, too dumb to care
do anything on a whim with just a dare
Youth was never wasted on the young
Youth was needed so we may become
The wishers wish, the dreamer's dream
to forever cling to our desires and schemes
Of living life to it's fullest extremes
Dare to laugh at death while bursting at the seams
And if we survive to old and frail
Our salad days of tall tales to tell
