Sacrifices

As your eyes were closing, mine were opening - to the horrors of the day, I would have gladly changed places- with you- where you lay. I wish I'd leaned over and inhaled your last breath So that it entered my living body and wouldn't be known as death. In a way you've beaten cancer, because it too has had its time, But it cost you your life, my Love And it's also taken mine.
