Sacrifices
As your eyes were closing, mine were opening - to the horrors of the day,
I would have gladly changed places- with you- where you lay.
I wish I'd leaned over and inhaled your last breath
So that it entered my living body and wouldn't be known as death.
In a way you've beaten cancer, because it too has had its time,
But it cost you your life, my Love
And it's also taken mine.
