Sacrifice
Freedom is never given away,
or bought with a few pieces of green.
It’s only earned through strife and struggle,
in those places most have never seen.
Freedom always calls for sacrifice,
and the burden will never be small.
Some who have chosen to join the fight,
have been asked to sacrifice their all.
They have placed themselves upon the line,
and proudly add their name to the tome.
To defend our rights with their last breath,
so freedom’s bell may ring clear back home.
Let me raise my pen to write your praise,
thank you for the gift of freedom you bring.
May God hold you through eternity,
of your sacrifice the angels will sing.
