Russian Roulette

Playing
          Russian roulette
          With fate

          Fateful
          The hand that tempts
          And flirts

          Flirting
          With the shadows
          Of death

          Deathly
          Silence that lurks
          And creeps

          Creeping
          Through cobwebbed paths
          Of doubt

          Doubtful
          Uncertainty
          Sets in

          Inner
          Feelings torment
          And gnaw

          Gnawing
          At self belief
          Bleeding

          Blood flows
          Slowly in drips
          It ends

          Ending
          Russian roulette
          With fate

Reminds me of the movie deer hunter. I really like darkness you portray with a touch of insight into self destructiveness

Thank you Nathan...your comments strike near the centre. I don't usually go for 'dark' writes, but my muse was unrelenting at the time of writing! // paul

There is wisdom hidden in the depth of these lines. It is never a smart idea to dance and toy with death.... I really like the darker tone of this poem. Congratulations on your first place win! Great work, my friend!

Wowww! Olive_eloi!:))) You're a grownup bundle of joy! I like how you express yourself and read into my writing. I must admit that I enjoyed this top win, but I know that there were other good poems that merited my same position. Treats are always welcome...perhaps we can meet half way since the distance is big! .... it's called mental approachment:) Hugs // paul

No problem....I usually take things as they come! In life we have to take the good with the bad, the sweet with the sour; no escaping reality...so we might just as well face it.
