Running River
The river runs deep and wide,
There isn’t a day gone by that we haven’t cried.
Our link to old wisdom and the beautiful past.
We tried to hold on with our weak human grasp.
The rushing water’s path of destruction,
Prohibits us from following your instruction.
We swim against the current, praying
We drag our bodies to the bank laying,
Face down in the sand barely out of the water
Searching for hope or some type of fodder.
To give us strength to finish the excursion,
Our hearts are weary from the prolonged immersion.
We will swim and wade in this river of sorrow,
Hoping, healing and happiness are held by tomorrow.
