Running For Her Sanity
She walks through shadows of the night,
A misfit running from a terrible plight.
Fleeing from something unseen,
Trying desperately to stay clean
Keeping hope in sight
Seeing a future bright
Knowing he who follows
Seeking always to swallow
The very air of each breath
The essence of life in her chest
Her sanity of mind
Making her his kind
Taking away her very reason for living
Leaving her nothing to believe in
Will she be able to outrun the sadness?
Will no one save her from this madness?
Her senses awaken
With each new step taken
Knowing she can take control
She will not be played the fool
Reaching for something she's not sure is there
Hoping against hope
But needing to beware
He keeps getting nearer
Feeding off her fear
One more step behind
And then she will find
His cold clammy hands
reaching while she stands
Paralyzed in fear
Wishing he would disappear
Knowing he creeps ever closer...
Suddenly a light floods her vision
And she makes a conscious decision
Waking up could only mean
It was all a biter dream...
