Runner

No one understands
No one ever will
I seek sympathy from no man
I just swallow the bitter pill

Clouds rain down upon my life
Torrents wash the pain away
Ive grown accustomed to the losses
No expectations things will change

So now i stand before my mirror
Paste on my best phoney smile
And pass out my best shallow greetings
As my soul is screaming all the while

Ive crossed so many oceans
Travelled endlessly far and wide
Some say im blessed to have seen so much
When really im just trying to hide

I hide from the kiss of intimacy
Or the soft caress that lets me down
I stay barren of empty dreams and promises
Some may judge me as unsound.

But no one really understands
And no one ever will
Perhaps no one cares anyways
Perhaps no one ever will

We do care, Carl, there are so many of us like you, it is pain that binds us.
