Run

Run

Few places to hide
In the African wild
A struggle to survive
On an open range
Where predators reside
 Day-old young
are sacrificed
Their mothers licks
Warm milk , calls and scent
Cannot keep them alive

Their fresh odor
Attracts their foe
The fawn can run but so far
The cheetah, skilled runner and hunter
Hides behind bushes and pastures
Ever so gently and calculated
It draws in close
And paces to its target
It’s bites are sharp and deep
The fawn is dead
Her young are fed

A herd of wilder-beast come to drink
A crocodile, submerged in the swamp arises
Aporoaches them with a chomping mouth
Scaring them off
A short time passes
And the crocodile awaits their return
Grabs the calf and shakes it in the water
The wilder-beasts carry on
