Rules of the Heart
It is so very small and yet plays such a major role
As upon you it will call in the leading of your soul
It can be so very kind in the leading of your way
But you may also find that this heart can astray
It's mind is of your own so do not allow it to drift
As it has always shown it's willingness to create a rift
So nourish it each day in surrounding it with prayer
In living His Way the heart will soon follow you there
So you need to set some rules things learned over the years
Using life's lessons as tools as new boundaries they will sear
Know what you can and cannot do and learn to stay away
Follow the things that keep you true as you go about your stay
But you can't do it alone as I am sure you have certainly tried
You'll need the Light shone in the knowing of why Jesus died
Only He in the Spirit can lead you in so revealing His plan
And your heart will know it's true even though you can't understand
