Rose Rocks

My true love gave me a rose rock today It came from stone gardens Down Noble way Begging their beauties pardon They had so much to say. Long ago on a trail of tears Native maidens cried aloud Consumed by unknown fear Rain above burst from cloud As Oklahoma they neared. Warriors blood ran through the lands Endless walking day and night The roses grew up from sand Blooming from the awful plight The Cherokee tears withstand. My true love gave me a rose rock today I had never known what it meant A tale of courage they say The rising cries were sent A journey made as natives pray.
