Rookie Teacher's Lament

Lesson plan, lesson plan, so full of detail, Lesson plan, lesson plan, you simply can't fail. Every second, every minute's, Got something good in it; So-o-o It's time to proceed; You're just bound to succeed! An hour later you're tired Of results undesired, From a class uninspired, Whose students conspired To get the teacher unhired. Lesson plan, lesson plan, so full of detail, How in the world did you manage to fail?

Thank you, again! You're keeping my spirits up today, Line. (And with the winter we're having in Chicago, they can use a boost!) Best always, Gershon

Gershon Wolf, I like this poem. Perhaps the student did not study hard enough.

Thank you for reading and thank you for the comment, Darlene!...As a teacher, I was thinking of this scenario when I wrote it: New teacher overprepares the lesson and everything falls flat---at which point, teacher despairs and students run over him/her with cleats, so to speak. ---gw
