Rock the Cradle

"Rock the Cradle"

The cradle
has its place

its content
ends up,
mostly,
sleeping next to its mother,
whether it wants to
or not

is the great debate
a child needs to feed
just like humanity needs
to feel, does it feel?
the way it's supposed
to feel?

The cradle
of civilisation
a cauldron like soup
alphabets in tatters
words said and left unsaid
and the hand, that hand

holding the spoon
that scoops
clear broth,
to the openness
wanting,
what we all want,

swallows the lot

all that matters
it matters a lot,

some say
not
