Road Kill
Polyester lined cables overhead;
Conditions are hazard red;
Big-wheeled diesel rucks tires dead;
All shredded, shredded all over the road on the side of the road;
Side of the road
Dead kites and shoe stringed Nikes hanging over the power lines;
Bicycle bend wheel broken;
Someone's tennis ball and football deflated, tattered and worn;
Tattered and warned;
Carousels of broken bricks and bottles;
Empty milk and orange juice containers;
And what have we to have gain by them...
Why? is this stuff still on the streets and highways;
Clean it up, clean it up...
Glass bottles, dirty diapers, half empty full cups from the restaurants;
Some bread smashed up plate, chicken bones;
Garbage and trash sitting in the sun today;
Radiant heat, sun melting plastic bags, sticking and stinking, everywhere;
What does it really matter the possum and rat and raccoon
Dance in the light of dismayed doom;
Everything's well with them, them all of them here at the
ROAD KILL
