River In the Sky

I raced outside to the rivers flow,
That illuminated the ground below.
At first the colors were soft and slow,
With Danali's peaks in the full moon glow.

Then an eerie flood of pastel rays,
Swirled through the sky like a tidal wave.
The electrifying pulse hit home,
Where a soul will never feel alone.
On my knees I began to pray,
To the angels as they dance and sway.
My heart soared high in the atmosphere.
I shouted, God, I'm glad you're here.
Reaching high for streams of light.
My heart took wings and joined the flight.
No longer bound to the likes of earth.
I sprang from the womb of celestial birth.

The wings of hope enfolded me;
Like an instrument in a symphony.
I swear the sound was heavenly.
As I joined in natures ecstasy.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

It takes some talent to so eloquently convey such an amazing celestial experience, both naturally and spiritually. I appreciate its transcendental allure. Excellent work!!

Hi Jeannie. Thanks so much for stopping by and reading this one. I appreciate your kind comments. I lived in Alaska for 5 years and saw some beautiful sights but I think the northern lights were the greatest gift off all. Have a beautiful day, my friend..... Robert.

So true, Robert. I am grateful for the opportunity to see all that I can. I think the northern lights are the closest I have come to seeing God's perfection. I could stand outside in my bath robe mesmerized until I realized that frostbite may be setting in. A beautiful sight, my friend.... Robert.

wow, you were really getting high on nature. It reminds me of the documentary I showed my class today on the life of John Denver, whose great love affair was with the natural world. VERY well done describing this celestial event!!

Thanks for the comments, Andrea. I've always loved John Denver and I will have the opportunity, very soon, to write some songs with the man who was the lead guitarist in John Denver's band. I am looking forward to being around someone that was so close to John. Your friend, Robert.
