Rider of the Wild Spirit
Wild winds blow the mists of earth and dreams,
Across the plains of waving grass and in the star strewn fields.
Of mind driven scenarios where things are not as they seem,
A noise of thunder shakes the land to its very core,
Of hooves splashing in boggy pools reflecting night sky,
Dispersing green mist to night mares song amid those who die.
Over the plains of Epudae rushes the wild herd,
Thunderous hooves he grass and splash in boggy moss filled water,
She sits upon his back her body filled with his mighty power,
Caresses his sinewy neck as a lover in passions flower.
No other is good enough no mortal man this strength,
Epona godeess of equine race loves none but her mighty steed.
He has never been named or ever been tamed bred for her alone,
Colour of his mane caught in wild winds blow from gold to black it flows,
Stretching from his head and mingles with his goddess tress,
She bends her back and sings to the sky with pleasure and a moan,
Her silken shift clings to her tight accentuating her womanly shape,
As across the plains of epudae towards her peoples home.
From ancient days and olden ways she has ridden her mighty mount,
In many lands folk have bowed to them in return she has blessed,
Some day a time will come when her aura will surely dim,
Forgotten by most to the land she will be lost,
Only in secret places with those who remember still,
They will speak with her and listen in the night hearing thunder in the wind.
