Ride It Out

Potter in the sky promptly sculpts
Scrapes grey clay into piles pulsating
Driven t'ward dread, born for storm chasing
Seatbelts her, seized by brightest volts

Picked up by gusts, thunder grumble thrust
On ferris wheel rise, rocked spectator
Eyes agape, a brooding threat elates her
Tagged by lightning's tip, torn wide by lust

Truncheons swung from sweaty clouds, rain clubs
At the apex, a lurid bulb sideshow
Her fibres dilated, dauntless, haunted, aglow
      Tormented, her descent releases cherubs

Twins, freshly festooned in her nursing
Sugar floss urchins, spun from ferris wheel frisson
Crushed by awe, she cries in downpour's christen
Halo wrapped clouds make a cradle immersing

      Heaven's heartbeat heaves grievances
Disgusted dagger, a jagged floodlight bolt
Bred from bravery, her tributes to tumult
      Conjure clemence, seek sweet sequences

Simone, congratulations on your win in Craig's contest! What powerful images you create. Love your "sweaty" clouds. There is electric energy flowing through each line. So glad to see you posting again. Was just thinking about you the other day. Blessings!

Segrid, your poem depicts a storm's ferocity from a weather occurrence, like lightning, with a strong narrative flow and obvious theme. Its powerful imagery and metaphors make it an excellent poem. Best wishes for the contest. Thanks for your visit and comment on my page.
