Notes About The Poem

Another version of the beautiful and world renowned singer Gladys Knight's, romantic, secular song, You’re The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me,” is a version directed to the Lord, and this is my life's story. For I have spent a majority of my life as believing that the burden of loving perfectly rested upon me. How could I love Him with all of my heart, with all of my soul? How could I truly love my neighbor as myself when I have struggled with even loving myself?

How could I even love my enemies... and forgive hurtful things done to me? Looking at myself, I could only see... that I was so undone. The examining of my heart came short n each department, like being short changed when you know that you should have gotten more, and you find it wasn't the right amount... or when you opened your own wallet, or have gone into your bank account to make a withdrawal that you need... but you don't have enough.

But when this happens to you spiritually... listen to God's soft still voice speaking to you from the inside. "Fear not. There's only One who is Perfect. I Am the source of love loving YOU perfectly, your whole you... all of your heart, all of your mind, and all of your soul, loving me, loving your neighbor as yourself, loving and forgiving your enemies . I am your well of love that never runs dry, you will never be shorted or come short... and because I Am rich in love; you are..

So, I have been humbled in Christ to learn what is true wealth. For there is not a human being in this world, with a penny in purse or a bountiful bank account, who doesn't need love. It is the deepest hurt if ever lost or taken away. Love in all of the complexities therein, joys in the midst of sorrows, like thorns included in a beautiful rose garden, fresh, and fragrant, sometimes prickly, should never be forfeited, neglected, forgotten or taken for granted,

Love offers precious treasures and memorable moments and I have been graced to know love, as I have been graced to know Christ. And between the lines of my own life’s story... God’s Perfect love in me have made me in all ways rich in love.

Rich In Love

I have kept sacred a TREASURE,
of BEAUTIFUL than sorrowful
MEMORIES

...a WEALTH of SENTIMENTS...
than troublesome
MOMENTS

  ...have made a FORTUNE,
in unforgettable
FOREVERS

...silver and gold, I may not have;
but such as I have, give I unto thee,
look not upon a man’s outward exterior,
for I am RICH in
LOVE
