Another one I found that was unfinished. Lemme know what ya think. Thnx for reading my ramblings!
The rhythms and the melodies
They just don't come quite so easily
The vision that I used to see
Has faded in time
.
But every now and then when I close my eyes
My heart can take me back to that place in time
To where we thought that we could heal the world with only a rhyme
.
And all we ever needed was love, love, love
.
But that was so long ago
Deafening silence of time
Has slowly taken our soul
Oh God where did it go?
.
Seems like nobody’s missed it
Where has it gone?
Like a fading mist has
Been burnt by the sun
Have we been fooled by
White picket fences . . .
Or our favorite politicians?
Trophy wives and soccer moms
Retirement funds?
Waters got it right when he said we were “Comfortably Numb”
Long before we knew what we’d become.
In our haste we couldn’t see what we had done
.
But pay no attention, to the man behind the curtain
Just know that he is certain,
That he can give you what you think you need
Or is it still right there within
Right there where it’s always been
Or are we giving in
To the manufactured hopeless greed?
.
But the rhythms and the melodies
Now mean so much more to me
Even though the vision that I used to see
Has faded in time
And every now, and then
When I close my eyes
I still think I can hear the old rhymes
.
All we need is love, love . . . . . . . . . .
