Rhyming Words

They dance around inside my head, Seeking their perfect mate; Hoping to be the end of lines In the next poem that I create. My wife thinks that, too many times, I pair my words in rhyme; What would she do, if she only knew About the chaos in my mind? I am told that my style is old; Rhyming poems are out of date. That may be but inside of me Rhyming words still procreate. It’s easy to write a line or two If rhyme and meter are no concern, But to rhyme your thoughts like I was taught, A few more brain cells you must burn. Besides, for me, what would I do With all those words running around in pairs? I must find them a verse, before I burst And do some real damage way up there.

Hi Joe. You have summed up my feelings to a tee. I am fed up at been told how I should write and have had several comments about being ,'old fashioned'. I wrote a piece called Rhymantic Struggle on the same theme. Great write. Eamon
