Notes About The Poem

Song of the Broad-Axe ' by Walt Whitman

Review Oct 3

Song of the Broad-Axe 'A twelve stanza poem atypical of this most famous of US poets in both form & topic. Walt Whitman raised by Quakers in Brooklyn with typographical poetics devoted to the US commonwealth whose best poetry is in 'Leaves of Grass&Song of Myself'.
Walt Whitman junior,so sensual with poems&essays so influential (in the US at least)as a transcendental writer&realist.
