Reunion
A rush of emotions
a quickening of heartbeats
holding blank sheet close to chest
he could hear its crackling sigh
and knew now his intent
half panting he rushed home
his tongue had gone dry
with tremulous tips
and quivering lip
picked up his pen
and wrote to his heart's content
smearing paper with fondest imprints
till the blood in his fingers froze
moment of a lost era resurging
as he drowned in their tiny souls
a half smile now played on his lips
as a joyous tear rolled
smudging the inked page
and he could have sworn
that words too smiled along
through the moist haze...
