Return of the Wood Pecker
Rat-a-tat-tat a-tat-tat-tat
At five o’clock in the morning
Sounds from the hungry wood pecker
Are an early springtime warning
The neighbor’s metal siding
Help reverberate the sound
Rat-a-tat-tat a-tat-tat-tat
Inside my head does pound
Rat-a-tat-tat a-tat-tat-tat
At the first sign of morning light
I’m going to get my son’s old b-b-gun
And line that bird up in my sight
I am glad that spring is on her way
And winter will soon be gone
Rat-a-tat-tat a-tat-tat-tat
But I could do without that song
NOTE: You can blame this one on Mike Dailey and Francine Roberts who put me up to it after reading a status about this darn wood pecker on my FB page.
