Restore and Heal
I lay my life before you God
Each broken piece, each tear
of my own self, I'm helpless
Please, come restore and heal
A life lived on my own strength
has gotten me nowhere far
This load I've tried to carry
Has me beaten down and scarred
The pain and guilt, the struggles
Had me pushing you away
When what I really needed was
To get on my knees and pray
Satan loved to whisper
Loudly in my ear
"You are to blame. You're worthless now
And your God is nowhere near"
Each word he spat upon my heart
Sank me deeper into his lies
But I wanted so badly to believe
That God cared and heard my cries
The hurt and anger coiled up
Like a snake inside my heart
Ready to strike at anyone
Who dared to pull my facade apart
But Jesus, with his gentle hands
Started to chip away
Every layer of my sadness
Each pain from yesterday
And with each piece that falls away
I start to feel again
Inside He finds my broken heart
And with tenderness, begins to mend
Thank you, Jesus, for your love
For never giving up on me
I come dragging this heavy burden
To lay it at Your feet
I lay my life before You God
Each broken piece, each tear
Of my own self, I'm helpless
Please, come restore and heal
*overflow of the heart while letting go of the past*
