Resquiescat In Pace

A twenty-one gun salute
honors the fallen brave,
a wall of names, go up in flames,
and all the world goes mute--

They marched on fields
and foreign lands unknown,
carrying crosses and counting losses--
blind faith were their only shields.

Delta, echo, alpha, tango, hotel,
this was their sacred language;
a code unbroken that was spoken,
over the piercing screams of hell--

Their bloodied tags are collected,
another trophy of a battle won--
dying with tears and so many fears,
for loved ones they knew they protected.

The sunrise exposes their disgrace,
light from every corner of heaven,
so many lives and left behind wives--
that wont visit this final resting place.

Let us not forget their constitution,
angels that continue to do battle--
on another field, they never yield--
those who died for another solution.
